Emerging artist Amelia Ford works within the confines of traditional still life painting–masterfully manipulating oils to capture the shine of an apple, or the folds of bright silk, or light through broken glass–but it’s in the composition of her subjects, rather than the items themselves, where the deeper meaning lies.

Lisa will share ways to stay safe when you encounter a wild animal, as well as how to help keep your home bear safe.

A two day festival, on May 24th and 25th, focused on building community by reconnecting to nature through local waste reduction solutions, live demonstrations, inspiring learning opportunities, and local arts and cultural experiences. Enjoy workshops, tours, demos, a repair cafe, a recycle market and live entertainment.

Painted floor cloth workshop
A two-part workshop teaches participants to create their own painted floorcloth: decorative mats for home and hearth. Instructor Lily Mayall’s own beautiful floorcloths embrace playful narratives, but workshop-goers are free tell their own tales.
Guided Cold War Bunker tours
During the height of the Cold War, in the 1950s and 1960s, nearly 50 bunkers were constructed across Canada. In 2017, the Nelson Museum began work on restoring the space and opening it to the public. You can join a tour of one of the Museumʼs best-loved spaces!
