Wine, Cider & Spirits
The local emphasis on fine food is matched by an appreciation for fine wine. Most restaurants feature a selection of delicious BC wines complemented by choice international options. For top notch wine lists we recommending visiting Louie's Steakhouse, Sage, Marzano or Red Light Ramen Bar. Events such as the Grapes & Grains Festival celebrate a passion for the past with a modern culinary flair.
Just south of Kootenay Lake’s southern shores is the only winery in the region. Wynnwood Cellars has 11 acres of vines with an emphasis on pinot noir, merlot, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc varieties. The family operated vineyard invites guests to sample their wines and enjoy the expansive valley and mountain views on the spectacular route between Creston and Crawford Bay.
Tucked away, just outside of Nelson, is a small-batch cidery called Kootenay Cider Works. They ferment their delicious cider using entirely Kootenay produced apples.
Wynndel Craft Distilleries is an award-winning distillery producing an assortment of handcrafted Brandies, Gin, Moonshine, Liqueurs and more using fruits found in the Creston Valley. We recommend stopping by their Tasting Room to introduce yourself to their products.
