Tapas or Taps?

Tapas or Taps?

Beer or wine? Tapas or Burgers? Fine dining or pub fare?

Nelson’s dynamic duo of Finley’s Irish Pub and Sage Tapas and Wine Bar has you covered. Perched with enviable views overlooking Kootenay Lake and Nelson’s signature Big Orange Bridge, these family owned restaurants are local favourites.

Finley's Irish Pub

Finley’s prides itself on offering a lively pub experience, including multiple pool tables, live music, and enough big screen TVs for every game. The sprawling patio is a go to spot during Nelson’s long sunny summers. With seventeen beers on tap, including local features from Nelson Brewing Company and Torchlight, there’s bound to be a pint up your alley.

The menu focuses on pub food done well. A selection of burgers ranges from the garden variety with pumpkin seed basil pesto, to the tasty beetroot beef burger, complete with beets, goat cheese, crisp prosciutto and onion jam. Four different kinds of poutine are available, while lettuce wraps, calamari, skillet nachos and Nelson’s most popular chicken wings are all tempting starters.

Happy hour is twice as nice at Finley’s. Get there between 3:30pm-5:30pm for $4 pints or wine, and $5 fish tacos, portion-sized poutine, or warm olives. The late night happy hour runs from 9pm-11pm with a variety of beverages on offer. Wednesday is a double header with wing night and karaoke, while the central stage features live music throughout the year. Events and specials are listed on our events calendar.

Sage Tapas and Wine Bar

Next door at Sage you’ll discover a quieter, more intimate vibe. Feature cheeses and charcuteries take the tapas stage, while mussels, olives, and baked goods round out the selection. Save some room for the main courses, including an emphasis on meat and fish. Keen to try more than one main? Order it as a tapas size. Sharing is caring after all, especially when you can reap the benefits too.

The Cod Meuniere, Drunk Shank of lamb, Pork Medallions and vegetable Ratatouille au Gratin are available in smaller sizes. Or, go for the daily Sous Vide Feature for a full dinner plate. Don’t miss indulging in the house made desserts, including a Dark Chocolate Torte, Earl Grey Crème Brulee and Orange Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Sage supports local producers, including a wine list that features exclusively BC wineries. Enjoying a local white or red in the cozy interior or on the beautiful sunny patio is a surefire way to score brownie points or high fives.

Finley’s and Sage are conveniently located at 705 Vernon Street, a short walk from historic Baker Street or Kootenay Lake.
