Discover What Nelson BC, Kaslo and Kootenay Lake Have to Offer
Welcome, outdoor lovers. It's time you got to know our diverse four season region. With crystal clear lakes and rivers, richly forested landscapes, and a climate that bestows equal parts coldsmoke winters and warm sunny summers, it’s little wonder that the region is an outdoor recreational paradise.
Lake & River Sports
Kootenay Lake, including the West Arm is 104km long, 5km wide, 150m deep, sits at 532m, and the fifth largest lake in BC - but it's number one in our hearts. This glacier-fed lake is ideal for paddling, fishing, sailing, or just hanging out. Nearby Lardeau, Slocan, and Salmo rivers offer heart-pumping excitement for rafting and kayaking.
There's a reason why cycling is all the rage here. Discover hundreds of kilometres of quiet lakeside road riding, or experience the intricate networks of acclaimed mountain bike trails that range from gentle to technical.
