War Memorial

310 Ward Street, Nelson, BC

Year: 1922. Main plaque reads: "Erected to perpetuate the memory of all those brave men of Nelson and District who gave their lives in the Great Wars 1914-1918 and 1939-1945". This plaque was later amended to include the WWII dates, and additional plaques to note the Korean War (1950-1953) and the Boer War (1899-1902) were added. The three plaques on the other sides of the monument list the soldiers lost in the two Great Wars. This memorial was designed by Alexander Carrie.
