APRÈS SKI, BABY! We’ve got some groovy house tunes, cheap beers, and sweeeeet schwag from the homies at Ripping Giraffe. Come in wearing your ski gear and get in the raffle. Come for a boogie, a poutine or a brew! We’ve also got a shot ski for the adventurous ones.

Guided Cold War Bunker tours

Venue:
Nelson Museum, Archives & Gallery

During the height of the Cold War, in the 1950s and 1960s, nearly 50 bunkers were constructed across Canada. In 2017, the Nelson Museum began work on restoring the space and opening it to the public. You can join a tour of one of the Museumʼs best-loved spaces!

The J.B. Fletcher Museum in Ainsworth will be hosting gatherings for fibre enthusiasts and tea lovers to come and work on their knitting, crochet, embroidery, and spinning projects while connecting with fellow crafters. These gatherings will occur the first Wednesday of every month from 9-12. Drop ins welcome.

All the Way Back to Now – four storytellers!

All the Way Back to Now: Storytelling Our Way Home features a stellar group of tale-spinners on the Taghum Hall stage Wednesday, June 4 at 7pm. The event title, All the Way Back to Now, refers to the time-honoured tradition of finding direction during interesting times by returning to our oldest stories, the group explains.

Weekly Tango Mini Lesson & Practice

Want to learn and practice dancing Argentine Tango? We host a weekly mini-lesson and practica at Christie Lee’s Hall in Fairview. The guided portion from 7:30-8:15 has a different host and topic each week (check our Facebook page for host and topic announcements). We have an open practice after the lesson until 9:30pm. Dancers of all levels are welcome!

‘Deep Roots’ exhibition opening

Deep Roots explores the regional history and relationship to the lumber industry. From the early settler days of logdriving down Kootenay Lake, to the Eddy Match Company’s matchstick factory, to the Save Cottonwood movement, the show features themes of resource extraction, land use, environmentalism and climate change, homebuilding, energy use, wildfire mitigation, and more.

Painted floor cloth workshop

A two-part workshop teaches participants to create their own painted floorcloth: decorative mats for home and hearth. Instructor Lily Mayall’s own beautiful floorcloths embrace playful narratives, but workshop-goers are free tell their own tales.
