Sacred Heart Catholic Church was first established as a small chapel in upper Kaslo in 1893. It was replaced in this present location in 1902 under the direction of Father Cot_ who built twin churches in Kaslo and Sandon (which subsequently burned down). The entire building and land cost $2,248. The first confirmation took place in 1907 by Bishop Augustin Dontenwill.
