Nelson Courthouse

320 Ward Street, Nelson, BC

1908 - Rattenbury, Carrie (S) Richardsonian Romanesque with Chateau features. The front entrance and foyer were firebombed on 04 February 1962. The fast thinking and actions of local taxi driver, David "Buster" Wigg, prevented the building from being reduced to rubble. The rear of the site contained the gallows which were last in use on 21 November 1902. Note the Richardsonian Arch and voussoirs.
