Winter reigns as the superior season for adventure enthusiasts. From world-renowned heli-skiing to top-tier Nordic skiing, every twist and turn unveils a new path waiting to be explored.

SEEKING TRIP INSPIRATION?

This five day itinerary has been carefully curated for those in pursuit of exhilarating and unforgettable experiences.

Day 1

Kick-start your trip with the thrill of a lifetime, heli-skiing or cat-skiing in Lardeau/Meadow Creek. Here, amid world-class vertical terrain and pristine snow conditions, we proudly claim the title of ‘Cat Ski Capital of the World’. In this region, you will find more cat ski operators than anywhere else on the globe. Spend the day finding fresh lines and chasing your fellow adventurers through glades, bowls and chutes. Finish off by heading to Kaslo to rehash the day with friends at the Waypoint Restaurant and Bar, over a beer or two.

Day 2

Give your legs a break and take the birds eye tour of our enchanting region. Hop on a flight tour by Kootenay Lake Aviation to gain a profound perspective of the vast terrain that envelops our communities. From towering snow-capped peaks and crystalline blue waters to communities nestled in the forest beaming with culture and vibrancy - this is by far the best way to see and feel our way of life

Day 3

Drive up to the esteemed Whitewater Ski Resort, an essential destination for anyone visiting the region. It is often regarded as the ‘ski vacation of a lifetime’ due to the 40 feet of snowfall per year and some of the fluffiest powder in the world. Finish off a full day of riding with the perfect après-ski experience at Beauties Pizza or Red Light Ramen Bar, both of which serve as the perfect place to warm up and delight the taste buds.

Day 4

Start your morning with a journey to the East Shore, home to the iconic Ladybug Coffee. Fuel up on locally roasted Oso Negro Espresso and their world famous breakfast sandwich. Once your energy has been replenished, it’s time to hit the snow. Trade your skis for tires and pedal your way through the snowy mountains on a fat tire bike. This offers a genuinely unique way to explore the region, and serves as an alternative for mountain bike enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the snow to melt. Be sure to pick up your bike before heading to the East Shore; you can grab one of these at The Sacred Ride or Gerick Cycle & Ski.

Day 5

On your final day, make your way North to Balfour for a delightful morning of scenic exploration. Strap on your snowshoes and head out into the vast wilderness. Be amazed by the peace and silence of the forest and maybe catch a glimpse of animal tracks or wildlife. After a morning of trekking, hop aboard the local ferry and admire the winter wonderland from the water. Spend your afternoon exploring the charming shops of Nelson and bring your memorable journey to a close with a well-deserved dinner at a farm-to-table gem like Pitchfork Eatery or indulge with an authentic Italian feast at Marzano.

If you're seeking a trip of winter thrills, scenic views, and world-class après, this itinerary is a great starting point to make the most of your time. Whether you come for one day, or ten, we offer experiences here for every adventure-seeker looking to break free from the everyday routine of life.
