Kootenaian Building

Kootenaian Building

404 Front Street, Kaslo, BC

This building was completed in 1896 for Dr. Hartin. The west side housed The Kootenaian newspaper which was published in Kaslo until 1962. The printing press was driven by pumped water power which drained back into the lake over the bank. The east side housed the Bank of Montreal, and then Moody's Pool Hall, known for it's black painted windows, followed by a series of restaurants. Upstairs there were three to four apartments.
