Railtown Coffeehouse: Keeping Nelson Caffeinated

Railtown Coffeehouse: Keeping Nelson Caffeinated

At the heart of the historic railway station is a booming cafe with that classic Kootenay local vibe. But don’t let that fool you, this spot is a hidden gem for heritage lovers and railway buffs alike.

Railtown Success

Only months before the pandemic hit, Ashley Postnikoff purchased Railtown Coffeehouse. She credits her success over the last three years to her ‘extended family’ of regulars that kept her brewing. For visitors the cafe is conveniently located next to the Nelson Visitor Centre, and is able to offer free parking. For those who love Railyards, at the right time of day you can watch the railcars roll by while enjoying your coffee!

Local Pride

Taking pride in the local spirit, Railtown sources locally roasted coffee from Oso Negro, teas from Virtue Teas, and local art - all available for purchase. The menu features many exclusives and is one of the more playful coffee menus in the area. Aside from her regular menu, Ashley offers a seasonal coffee menu that features different flavours.  Ashley describes her training in the coffee scene as more unconventional which allows her style to be more expressive and fun. The coffee menu isn’t the only treasure at Railtown, Ashley also offers an abundance of fresh baking and in house lunch specials that rotate seasonally.

Finding Awesome

Railtown Coffeehouse offers indoor dining as well as a rail-side patio. The space offers a quaint small town feeling in a city that continues to grow and modernise. It’s a great local spot to grab some travel guides and plan out your next adventure.
