Nelson and Kaslo have Awesome Skateparks

Boy Skateboarding Nelson Skate Park- Photo by Marty Clemens

Nelson has one of the finest skateparks in BC, with challenging drops and rails, and nestled in the forest beside the bike park. Kaslo skatepark is inviting for all ages, and has the best views. Mom and Dad, it doesn't get much better: you can watch and chill while admiring the Purcell Mountains and Kootenay Lake. Nelson has an indoor skatepark at the Nelson and District Youth Centre, that's open year round.

The skateparks are full of talented pro and amateur skaters, but you’ll also find that typically mellow Kootenay vibe at the skateparks here. Young kids skate alongside more accomplished skaters. The parks are very family friendly, but also well maintained and populated by some serious talent, for example local rider gone pro, Drew Summersides.
