Meadow Creek + Lardeau Valley

Located on the northern end of Kootenay Lake (about 40km north of Kaslo), the Lardeau Valley is home to the small, charming communities of Lardeau, Cooper Creek, Meadow Creek, Argentia and Johnson's Landing.

Surrounded by pristine natural beauty, this region is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. In the Winter, there are phenomenal heli-skiing and cat-skiing opportunities out of Meadow Creek, with some excellent operators to choose from. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are also popular outdoor activities in the winter months.

Summers are quiet and serene. The enchanting countryside and mountain views can be leisurely enjoyed on foot or by boat, with alpine hiking, rock-climbing and caving for the more adventurous. Grizzly and black-bear watching has become increasingly popular, especially during the fall salmon run.

There are a couple of eco-tourism operators that offer guided tours and sustainable accommodation for those in search of unspoiled wilderness.
